The Satyavolus are originally from Rajahmundry. We are descendants of the ancient saint Parasara. Now what is interesting is that Parasara was the great grandfather of both the warring parties of the Mahabharata. Wonder if we are descendants of the good guys or the bad guys :)

Either way, that would make us members of the Niyogi sect within the Brahmins, or more specifically Aruvela (ఆరువేల), which means 6000 Niyogi sect – 6000N for short. How that matters is beyond me, but it is part of who we are – so there!

We are apparently descendants of people from the North and Northwest part of the country. Does that mean we are part Afghan?

What is interesting is that the Niyogi apparently means employed or appointed. And the 6000 comes from the fact that 6000 MBA types (I kid you not – says Wikipedia) were recruited to manage the war to defend the country a long long time ago – and their descendants are the 6000N brahmins of today. Maybe Rumsfeld should have recruited more of us ;-)
